Character Information



Name: Kensei Muguruma

Canon: Bleach

Canon Point: Chapter -97 (between Chapters 315 and 316 in the manga), post-Turn Back the Pendulum, just as they're leaving the warehouse to go and fight Aizen.

Age: He looks late 20s, but he’s really well over 200 years old.

Personality: As a leader, Kensei comes off as a powerful force. He’s incredibly perceptive, as most captains in the Gotei 13 should be. However, he’s also extremely loud, which gets people to listen to him and follow along with his commands. There’s a sense that he cares about people, no matter how unable he is to show it directly at times. As a hard worker, Kensei combines all of these positive traits into one top notch captain.



Kensei’s biggest strength, besides his fists, is his perceptive ability. If something is going wrong, he notices it almost immediately. He’s not above making snap judgments, but generally speaking, he doesn’t do anything without some consideration to it. Ordering people around, he knows what needs to get done by already assessing the situation at hand. Even his temper doesn’t cloud that, although it tries to creep in at times. Especially when it comes to his lieutenant. Mashiro knows exactly the buttons to press on Kensei and cause him to rage almost immediately.



His powerful voice also comes out when someone pisses him off. Someone says something moronic, and that’s the straw that breaks the fragile camel’s back. He has no issue unleashing a torrent of furious responses and even threatening to hit someone for saying something completely asinine. There’s a high pressure rage boiling inside of him, but even though he has been held back from hitting people, more likely than not, he won’t hit anyone until the situation is right.



There are many people he cares about in his life. Although he’d probably like to punch her many times in a row in the heat of the moment, there’s no denying that he cares and is worried about Mashiro. When people start getting attacked, he immediately calls out for her to get out of the tent where they were sleeping. As Shuuhei Hisagi starts sobbing in front of him, he does his best to smile and cheer the boy up with words of encouragement.



However, the way he shows encouragement shows that he’s not the most in tune with being socially intelligent. The way to deal with someone crying and sad, to him, is to shout at them. Really, shouting at anyone seems to be his solution for most situations that require other people. Until much later on, his smiling looks more like the grin of a serial killer. He doesn’t get most humor, and the humor he does get, he’s already over it and wanting to get back to the previous task at hand.

Why?: Kensei’s a captain, a man in a leadership position. He keeps a cool head (most of the time), and can wield a weapon quite easily. Therefore, he’d be an ideal god, at least in my mind.

Top 3 Choices: Thanatos, Anubis, Shezmu

God Type: As a captain in the Gotei 13, Kensei followed his orders to a perfect degree. As Thanatos, he’d continue in that. He’d take on prayers as required, and lead his Shinki(s) to become better and stronger over their time working together.

Power: Healing through Cooking. Any food that Kensei makes heals up wounds. As well, I would like him, during his time, to be able to gain the ability to have his food have certain affects. Right now, it’s only basic healing, but as he gains more followers, his foods could have other affects like a power boost, or a speed boost.
